Some charge, others cling to wagons or attack from afar. Learn to recognise Rumblekeep's seven enemies and two bosses so you can choose the right priority.
The attackers
One silhouette, one threat, one response.
Grunt
Attacker
It heads straight for the train and deals contact damage. It is the first threat encountered in the wastelands.
Your response. Eliminate groups before they reach the convoy. Explosions and attacks that pierce several targets become useful when the ranks close in.
Runner
Fast scout
Faster and less durable than the Grunt, it sharply reduces the time you have before contact.
Your response. Watch the closest enemies and use priority targeting when a Runner overtakes the others.
Tank
Armoured attacker
Slow, durable and dangerous on contact, it absorbs more shots than smaller attackers.
Your response. Start hitting it at range. Corrosion and heavy-hitting weapons help wear down its health.
Charger
Telegraphed rush
It aims at the nearest wagon, signals its path and charges. Its preparation gives you a brief window to react.
Your response. Save the shield for the impact or interrupt its preparation with the EMP emitter.
Saboteur
Clinging threat
It reaches a wagon, clings to its flank and deals repeated damage. It remains dangerous until destroyed.
Your response. Mark it as a priority target as soon as it latches on. An impulse alone cannot detach it.
Spitter
Ranged attack
It prepares a projectile from a distance, aiming at a wagon. Its green tanks distinguish it from other armoured attackers.
Your response. Interrupt the shot with EMP or prepare the shield. Long-range weapons can reach it before contact.
Pursuer
Rear attack
It chases the last wagon. Changes in the train's pace affect its ability to catch up; eventually it abandons the chase.
Your response. Watch the rear and the position of your armed wagons. Do not let all your fire concentrate on the front.
Bosses
Every five waves, a major encounter puts your journey on the line. Brise-rail and La Fonderie alternate along the route.
Brise-rail
Brute force
Its claws telegraph attacks against the train. As its health drops, it becomes overactive: its strikes grow faster and stronger.
Your response. Save the shield for its telegraphed blows. Keep pressure on the boss and prepare to react faster towards the end of the fight.
La Fonderie
The reinforcement factory
It summons reinforcements that attack from several directions. The threat comes both from the enemies it produces and the time needed to destroy it.
Your response. Eliminate reinforcements threatening the flanks, then return to La Fonderie. Switch priority targets to avoid leaving wagons unprotected.
